The Forestry mod has a serious farming focus, but it’s also about other “green” things, like sustainable energy production and combining genes from different plants and trees to create better, stronger plants and trees. Some of the notable features in Forestry include automatic farms, which are self-explanatory, as well as bee breeding. Bees are very important in this mod, just like they’re important in real life, for the purpose of fertilizing plants and causing them to produce fruits and seeds. There are butterflies too, but they’re not really the main focus of this mod. Other mods take butterflies much more seriously.
If you give Forestry a try and decide you like the wide variety of new plants it introduces to Minecraft, you’ll be happy to know there are add-ons to bring even more content to the game. Extra Bees and Extra Trees are both compatible with Forestry, but Magic Bees can really make the game play differently since it makes the bees act differently. Gendustry also works with Forestry, mostly on the breeding aspects of the mod, to enhance that feature. If you want more trees, more plants, and more ways to produce energy in Minecraft, Forestry is a mod that’s worth a look.
