Arid Highlands
The Arid Highlands provides balance to the savanna with its significantly higher elevation along with the lighter grass color.
Autumnal Woods
The Autumnal Woods is a variety of the Forest with multiple colors of autumnal trees. The autumnal trees come in red, orange, yellow, and brown. The Autumnal Woods also feature plain old Oak trees to provide a fifth color.
Cliffs
The Cliffs is a very tall mountain with an inner valley of Rolling Hills.
Coniferous Forest
The Coniferous Forest biome is home to the Fir tree, a tall but thin tree with dark logs and leaves. Fir trees can vary greatly in height from about 15 to 30 blocks tall! The base Coniferous Forest biome has a moderate height, but the Coniferous Wooded Hills biome has a much higher elevation.
Desert Shrubland
The Desert Shrubland is much like your typical Desert, but it also has regions of grassy patches that contain shrubs.
Flatlands
The Flatlands are a lush grassland, reminiscent of the Plains but flatter and greener. The occasional tree breaks up the monotony of a green field.
Lush Swamp
The Lush Swamp is a variation of the Swamp biome that has greener grass and taller trees.
Mini Jungle
The Mini Jungle, despite the name, is not that closely related to the Jungle. The biome has large Oak trees as well as your typical Oak tree, but with Jungle logs and leaves instead of oak.
Plains Plateau
The Plains Plateau is basically a Plains biome at a higher elevation.
Rolling Hills
The Rolling Hills mixes the lush nature of the Meadow biome with some sparse trees as well as dotted hills. It is designed to be reminiscent of terrain from Minecraft Alpha, but has been tweaked to fit within modern Minecraft.
Snowy Coniferous Forest
The Snowy Coniferous Forest biome is home to the Fir tree, a tall but thin tree with dark logs and leaves. Fir trees can vary greatly in height from about 15 to 30 blocks tall! The base Snowy Coniferous Forest biome has a moderate height, but the Snowy Coniferous Wooded Hills biome has a much higher elevation.
Wooded Island
The Wooded Island is based off of terrain generation from Minecraft: Java Edition beta versions. It is covered in woods, and has some significant height variation.
Woodlands
The Woodlands is densely populated with Oak trees, fallen oak trees, and Oak shrubs. The ground is fairly flat, but it also has some slight hills here and there.

What is the Mod About?

Traverse mod adds 17 new biomes to the game based on real-life biomes and fits perfectly with vanilla Minecraft. The mod adds the following biomes to the game: Autumnal woods, mini jungle, woodlands, meadow, lush swamp, red desert, temperate rainforest, badlands, mountainous desert, rocky plateau, forested hills, birch forested hills, autumnal wooded hills, cliffs, glacier, glacier spikes, and snowy coniferous forest.

Should You Install it?

Traverse Mod is an excellent mod that adds wonderful and balanced new biomes to the game without breaking the vanilla feel. The mod is also compatible with other mods that add new biomes. We highly recommend installing the mod.

Biomes

Arid Highlands feature hilly patches of desert, grass, and acacia trees.
Autumnal Woods features oak trees in autumn colors and comes with a hills variant.
Coniferous Forest features gigantic fir trees in a densely packed, heavily saturated forest and comes with hills and extremely high hills variants, as well as snowy variants.
Cliffs are tall, towering features that may conceal amongst them small patches of beautiful rolling hills.
Desert Shrubland features grassy patches amongst the desert, with tiny oak tree shrubs.
Lush Swamp features a vibrant green with taller trees.
Meadows are lush grasses filled with flowers.
Mini Jungles feature smaller trees but are still wet and hilly.
Plains Plateau features raised grassland with sparse trees, similar to a Plains biome.
Rocky Edge features large swathes of rocky ground and boulders.
Rolling Hills features lush flowers and oak trees scattered across undulating hills. A patch of hills can occasionally be found surrounded by cliffs.
Wooded Islands are found amongst oceans and can be large or small, with dense tree growth, beaches, and rapidly changing terrain heights.
Woodland features plains with fallen trees and clusters of oaks and shrubs, with a plateau variant.
