Pixelmon Mod (1.16.5, 1.12.2)— Pixelmon Reforged, Pokémon inside Minecraft

Explore the world of Minecraft while trying to catch numerous Pokemon in this fun overhaul Minecraft mod that adds hundreds of mobs and NPCs based on the popular franchise Pokemon – Pixelmon!

Pixelmon is a Minecraft overhaul mod that changes a lot of aspects of the game by merging Pokemon with Minecraft. Created by username MrMasochism, the game introduces hundreds of Pokemon monsters, items, NPCs, and even a functional Pokedex.

Note that GameFreak and Nintendo exercised their rights against the mod. Hence, the mod will no longer continue its development. The latest version of the mod is Minecraft 1.12.2.

What the Mod Offers

The mod brings the world of Pokemon into Minecraft. With the mod installed, normal mobs won’t spawn in the world. Instead, Pokemon will run around the map and do their own thing. Like any Pokemon game, with Pixelmon, you can craft a Pokeball and capture wild Pokemon with it. You can also do Pokemon battles with a wild Pokemon by calling forth your own to fight for you.

Multi-generation Pokemon

The mod replaces all the monsters of the Minecraft vanilla game with Pokemon monsters from various generations of the game. Just as with the unmodded Minecraft, some Pokemon are hostile to the players, many are neutral, while some are downright passive and won’t fight back. If you are lucky, you might be able to spot a Legendary Pokemon or your favorite TV mascot – Pikachu!

Pokemon Items

The mod comes with a wide selection of items and objects from the Pokemon universe, including a Pokeball that will allow players to capture their own Pokemon and raise them as pets.

Pokedex

Just like the Pokemon games, your goal in Pixelmon is to capture and have a record of all the wild Pokemon known to men. However, this mod is still a work in progress, so expect some incomplete features.

NPCs

Aside from Pokemon roaming around the map, you’ll also meet a few of the Mod’s NPCs or non-playable characters. You might even get a chance to meet some of the most iconic characters from the franchise!

Mountable Pokemon

The cool mod is not just all fighting and roaming around, many of them are also mountable! Get around the next town while riding that beautiful legendary birds Articuno and watch other people envy you!

Should You Install It?

If you are a fan of the old Pokemon games from Game Boy Color, then you’ll love this mod for the nostalgic feeling it gives. However, because Nintendo and GameFreak stopped the mod, the mod will never see any update. If you want to play the mod, you’ll have to install it separately with an outdated version of Minecraft. Fortunately, a couple of Pixelmon servers are still running, and you can play with other people and enjoy the world of Pokemon in Minecraft.
