Should You Install It?
MapWriter 2 is one of the most functional and optimized mini-map mods available to Minecraft. We highly recommend this mod if you haven’t installed a mini-map mod.
Features
- In-game minimap for multiplayer and single-player.
- Client-side (server does not need to have the mod installed).

- Rotating circular mini map mode. It can be enabled in the options GUI.
- Colors for blocks are automatically generated from the block’s texture.
- Support for custom texture packs.
- Support for blocks added by mods.
- Biomes are now colored appropriately.
- The entire map can be written into a PNG image.
- Explored chunks are also saved in Anvil format from multiplayer servers, so you can view the world using tools such as Eihort.
