Minecraft mods that expand upon the original game’s unique formula and appeal without adding new content are often some of the best. Custom content is usually buggy and often overpowered, underpowered, or imbalanced. The Battle Towers mod is one of these mods, and it would make a welcome addition to any Minecraft player’s library for this reason, along with a few others. For starters, the fact that this mod adds new dungeon-type structures to the game makes exploring much more entertaining. The battle towers are like strongholds that go upward rather than downward.
As players climb up these towers, they can look forward to progressively more difficult battles against several mobs, which usually increases as they go up every floor. Treasure can be found during every ascent, both dropping from slain monsters and stored in chests that the player can loot once they’ve taken care of the hostile presence. Every tower spawned by the Battle Towers mod will contain at least one treasure chest and several floors of heated combat, which gives the player something to get excited about when they see something looming in the distance.
The towers also spawn in several different biomes. However, there doesn’t appear to be any specific set of mobs used for any particular biome – the assortment of monsters seems random every time. The Battle Towers mod won’t spawn towers in the jungle biome, and there are probably other places where the buildings won’t appear. This mod isn’t exactly new, but it still gets regular updates from its author and is compatible with Minecraft 1.8 and up, as well as several earlier versions of Minecraft if you use earlier versions of the mod. Be sure to have Forge ready before you try using Battle Towers.
